Suit Supply Custom Suit

This posted is rated MA – Millionaire Audiences only. Ok, I’m exaggerating a little, but if you don’t have $1,000+ to shell out for a for a breathtaking, unmatched, fall-to-your-knees-because-it-was molded-to-your-body-suit, then you can stop reading here and check out this lower priced option instead. For all other short monarchs, I implore you to read on.

The Suit Supply Custom Suit is a gift from Prometheus himself. Because you will look absolutely FIREEE before donning this Dutch-designed armor. Let me break the whole experience down for you:

You walk into a Suit Supply store, and suddenly, a team of superbly dressed runway models descend upon you (unless you are dressed like a peasant in which case they will tactfully ignore you for 30 minutes). For this reason, I recommend doing your research prior to entering – make an appointment with the most senior salesman online prior to venturing to the Mecca of Suits. The Suit Supply website will tell you how many years of experience each local salesperson has at Suit Supply. The website will also provide their customer ratings (on a scale from 0-10). It’s probably wise to avoid anyone with a rating below 9.0. Once you have scheduled a date with your master suit craftsman, let the games begin.

Once you meet your “suit stylist” he or she will ask what you are looking for – a suit for work, a wedding, a European vacation, a red carpet event, or all of the above. Once you have narrowed down your style, the seasoned salesperson will size you up with their eyes (quite literally) and pick out an off-the-rack suit as a starting point for your custom suit. Ten minutes of tape measure acrobatics later, your measurement “passport” is done. Suit Supply will save these measurements to your online profile for future use.

Then, you will pick out your fabric. This is my favorite part. There are so many chose from; simple wool fabrics on the low end and S150+ on the high end. I have tried a range of fabrics and my favorites are S110 Italian wool for formal events and Italian wool-silk-linen blends for an unforgettable textured look. The S110 is mid-range in price ($800 for a two-piece), and the wool-silk-linen is a little on the higher side ($900 for a two-piece).

After you flip through the fabric bible and choose your ideal color and texture, next are the design details. You then dive into the intricacies of lapel widths, button stances, and pocket styles, as if they were plotting a heist in the world of high fashion.

The hardest part of the entire experience is waiting the 3-8 weeks for your suit to arrive. The timing depends on demand and labor supply. I have had a custom suit come back in as short as 3 weeks and as long as 6 weeks.

Once your suit is ready, be sure to schedule a pickup time with the same stylist who took your measurements. I strongly recommend that you try on your suit before you leave the store. Suit Supply is great, but they are not perfect. You will want to check for issues with the fit (such as bunching or stretching) and any stitching defects (this most commonly occurs in the shoulder). The stylist may resist making any corrections for you, but be firm in your requests – you just dropped a thousand bucks, and you deserve perfection.
